I just love the feathers that Lara from A Vintage Touch has been painting. This most recent one?

IN BLOOM by Mariska Meijers
Do you remember the post I wrote about Mariska Meijers back in March? She’s an artist in Amsterdam who charmed me with her paintings of interiors, like this one:

In addition to her paintings, Mariska also has a designer pillow line.

IN BLOOM is her first pillow collection inspired by a tropical garden she once had in Singapore.

It’s like displaying a painting on a chair. I think they would work equally well in brightly painted and wallpapered rooms and those that are more subdued. In one they would contribute to the vibrant aesthetic and in the other they could add a splash of color and interest.
You can purchase these in her online shop, but U.S. residents can also use interdecorations.com.
Love the look but prefer something to hang on the wall? What about a print? Or if you’re not able to commit to the expense right now, you could always frame some of her note cards or greeting cards as miniatures.

CK Bradley’s Spring Line
I saw these illustrations on The Love List:

Aren’t they great? So of course, I had to check out the shop. Here are some favorite styles/colors:

Help Save the Gulf
As a lifelong Louisiana resident, my blogging friend, Lindsey of A GreatFull Day and The Bright Side Project feels a strong connection to the tragedy unfolding daily along the Gulf Coast.
In her own words:
“Generations of fishermen who are following the only trade their family has ever known are jobless. Innocent animals are swimming in the effects of our human error and meeting their demise. Our delicate marshes and waterways despite efforts are being flooded with oil and our native plants are faltering. The beaches lining the coast show signs of the spill as tarballs wash ashore. Each day and hour that passes makes the situation more dire and leaves the gulf coast (and the world) wondering just how much damage will be done. And we all are praying that a solution is found before hurricane season rears its head.”
So she’s decided to offer a photo print from her Etsy shop and donate 100% of the proceeds to the Audobon Society who is helping preserve wetlands, heal animals and clean up the mess.

Please help our coast by purchasing a print or donating directly to one of the organizations aiding in relief.
Lindsey – you have a good and generous heart. Much love to you.
Une**
I saw this picture on Creature Comforts and it literally took my breath away:

Here are others I love by the same photographer (Une**) done in a similar style:

Some of these make me feel like I could float up into the sky. Reminds me of movies that feature scenes in Heaven.

Powder Blue is the New Pewter
I am currently in the market for a silver/pewter leather shoulder (er, er, er) bag right now. A good roomy one that can hold all my junk but also look nice when I’m going for fancy.
I recently saw this market tote from Rennes on A Cup of Jo:

It was in a giveaway actually – and winning it would have solved all of my problems (all of them I tell you!). But that didn’t work out. The good news is that I COULD always buy it… But when you start thinking about buying – you want to make sure that you choose well.
And I’m not 100% in love with this bag. While I do prefer “simple” (too many zippers and buckles make me dizzy), I’m not sure that a “market tote” is exactly what I was going for in a shoulder bag.
Then while perusing the shop, I saw this:

And I think a bucket bag (ah – I miss you good ol’ black Coach bucket bag circa 1984…) may be a little closer to what I had in mind. BUT it doesn’t come in pewter/silver, and while pastels are big right now and if there is any color I love as much as pale yellow, it’s powder blue… I’m wondering if I can pull it off as an every day neutral. Granted – the store listing says it’s “ice blue,” I say same-same, tomato-tomahto (hey…what about tomato?…no too bright for me).
So what do you think? Could a powder blue bucket bag be exactly what I didn’t know I wanted? Or should I keep looking? Any suggestions for great slouchy, pewter shoulder bag?
