Sarah’s House

I have never seen this show. In fact, I didn’t know it existed until I saw a post about it on Design Ties last month.

Apparently, it’s an HGTV-Canada program in which “Sarah” and her designer partner Tommy do complete home renovations. So far, they’ve done two houses and one cottage.

Here are some pictures:

Hmmm. I may need to start watching more HGTV. It might guilt me into attempting some DIY projects of my own…

Stolen Peacock Vintage

One of my favorite style bloggers, the hilarious Winona of Daddy Likey, just opened a new Etsy shop: Stolen Peacock Vintage.

As an avid thrift shopper, Winona is all too aware of the teeny tinyness of vintage garments the popular online shops. So Vintage Peacock will endeavor to carry a variety of sizes, including the M-XL ones when possible, as well as “some great accessories that will fit everyone.

To celebrate their grand opening, they’ve arranged a little giveaway for Daddy Likey readers. The winner will receive a $20 gift certificate to spend on anything in the shop, along with a vintage Ann Taylor silk peacock patterned scarf.

The giveaway ends this Friday – so don’t miss it!

New and Improved with Twice as Many Pretty Pictures

So I’ve decided that it’s time to take my little “pretty things” blog to the next level. I have close to 100 readers (I could have sworn it was 100 yesterday…) and have typically posted anywhere from three to five times a week.

But I think I could do better than that. So from now on, I’ll be posting TWICE a day (Mon-Fri – I do have a life you know…) and maybe I can even grow this readership. I’m thinking 125 readers – but don’t worry, I’m not THAT ambitious. It’s just a The Secret-esque visualization that I’m employing. I’m dreaming BIG these days.

Anyway – for the five of you who actually do read this blog (I’m looking at you Mom!), there will now be more to enjoy. Tell your friends – send a few more readers my way. AND – send me links to anything you think I’d like. I promise to feature them and give you credit (provided I don’t hate them of course, but what are the chances of that?)

I would love to do more with this space – so anything you could do to help me get those readers (seriously – I’ll be thrilled with 110) would be much appreciated.

And grab a button while you’re at it! I’ll happily add yours to my own sidebar.

Nesting Newbies and The Treehouse Press

A couple of things today…

First, I found a new online magazine last week called Nesting Newbies (also see the website: nestingnewbies.com). It’s all about “homemaking,” really – specifically, cooking, entertaining and decorating.

The layout is well done and the features have something for everyone. My favorites were…

…this series of table set designs (complete with “get the look” suggestions):

…and this great lamp makeover:

Then my adorable IRL friend Christy of A Lil’ Welsh Rarebit sent me a link to an Etsy shop she found on Urban Grace: The Treehouse Press. They make glass decoupage plates using only vintage papers like paper dolls, old maps, wallpaper scraps, children’s books, antique prints, etc. Here are a few of my favorite images:

Pricey – yes. But pretty special (especially that baby plate).

That was quite the big finale Friday for me…two subjects in one post. Nesting Newbies and The Treehouse Press – check them out!

Elva Fields

I found these lovelies somewhere over the weekend… But I can’t remember where. Probably from a popular site I lurk – but if it was you and you actually read Wishing True, feel free to take credit.

These Elva Fields necklaces make me wish I had more reasons to be fancy:

Maybe I could work them in with workout clothes…I’ll have to give it some thought. In the meantime, I’ll just check out the blog.
