I recently purchased a “real” camera (a good “beginner’s” one – Nikon D5000) for work purposes. And on the first day, without a glance at the owner’s manual, let alone knowledge of how to work the contraption, I snapped a few random photos that looked like this:
Um….right. Why didn’t anyone tell me about this?! I have six years of mediocre quality family pictures behind me now – all because I thought real cameras were for real photographers. I thought I’d need a class to learn how to use one. I had no idea that even a novice could capture some pretty great looking images using the automatic settings.
Oh well – bygones I guess. It’s never too late and all that…
So look forward to reading my photography blog in the future. Just kidding of course (sort of).

I have a Canon Powershot and I love it. I want a better one, but since I use mine only every third month for say an hour…I can't justify the price. Ha. Mine takes great outdoor photos. Indoor it leaves something to be desired.
Yours takes great photos though.
Where did you see a peacock? The zoo?
Matt has a Nikon D90 and I can use it on the automatic setting only. Isn't it amazing how awesome your pictures can be now? Yippee for good cameras!

Yay! A good camera is so much fun. I have a Canon Rebel but I'm still not that great with it. Unless I'm outside. Great pictures you took, Kate! :)
I've been wanting a DSL camera forever. That's what you got – right? Sigh… Your photos look fabulous.
Such a good reminder to actually pull my good camera out every once in awhile. I've now hit the lazy point where I know my iPhone takes pretty good photos – and video too – so I never bring anything else with me!
