On Saturday, something incredibly exciting happened in the Hood residence. Oliver didn’t just “go potty” as directed by us, he did so of his own volition.
He walked into the house after running errands with his Dad, beelined for the bathroom, took off his pants and hopped on the toilet. Okay he actually took off his shirt as well, but the point is that he pulled down his pants BY HIMSELF (and anyone who has seen the size of my sturdy son’s “backyard” knows that this is no easy feat). Then when he was finished, he flushed the toilet, found his father and asked for help in putting his pull up back on.
Now I know that mothers of potty trained 2 year olds (i.e. girls) are thinking, “so what – isn’t he now a few months past his third birthday?” Well , yes – but the concept of potty training has not been all that well received, and we’ve been making very slow progress over the past few months. Steady progress – but slow progress nonetheless. So this is big for us. BIG I tell you!
Not sure what to make of the needing to be naked thing (my own little George Costanza) – but at least he no longer requires a snack while he’s taking care of business.
I prefer being naked, but I don’t need dad to get my clothes back on.
How cute about the snack – tee hee! My son waited until he was three before he would finally use the potty and never turned back!

Weee!!!Yea!!! That is so great. Little boys take awhile. 3 is just fin. My son used to get naked too. Now he just does the pants thing.

YAY! So exciting. Porgie is two, and I have absolutely no desire to start potty training her. Honestly, I think I am going to wait until she turns three before I even begin the process.
My two girls were months past their third birthdays before the idea of using the potty was okay with them. So in my book, your kid is a rock star! And good for him!
Hooray! MiniMe first asked to go potty at 18 months. He finally decided to give up the fight against training with the Pumpkins were born…he was four months past his third birthday. And it was just like Oliver…one day he didn’t, the next day he did.
That is great news!
I’m hoping that I will be able to ‘learn’ my kids at the same time. DH laughs at me!
Umm, I have some advice for the naked thing. You’ll find a few posts on my blog about it, which is let it go, the success of going potty is a much bigger battle anyway. My daughter even takes off her hairband when going potty (almost 5)..
we call her the naked P*oper!
