Erin Alexandra Klym

I discovered this Etsy designer via Sal from Already Pretty this morning and I am in love with THIS JACKET:

Either color – although the charcoal would be more practical… And at the end of the day, I’m hideously practical.

I know – it’s Summer. Who is thinking about jackets right now? Well – I bet some Canadians are… But DC? Not so much. But I’ll be bookmarking this one for Fall.

What Blogging Dreams Are Made Of…Coach Collectibles

I mean seriously. Dream. Come. True.

I first heard of this through the impossibly beautiful and stylish Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere and I have to say, I think hers is my favorite. It’s so elegant and feminine. As luxurious as her blog name. But I do really love the others too. I don’t think I could work the black fringe into my own wardrobe (I’ve never been very Rock ‘n Roll) – but the rest would be welcomed with open arms.

And since I’m now into noticing coincidental name trends…how about the bloggers almost all having names that start with K? I wonder if Coach considered asking Emily to change her name to Kemily for 100% participation…

Anyway – love this. Which one would you pick?

A Bee’s Nursery

I was just perusing the new issue of Nesting Newbies, a cute online magazine, and I found myself doing a double take.

There on pages 142-149 was Melisa’s nursery! Or more accurately, her daughter, Devon’s nursery. Melisa of the lil bee fame, won possibly one of the best giveaway prizes in the history of blog…um…giveaway prizes. Free interior decorating services!

Back in March, she featured some pictures of the final product as well as links to the designer, Michele Krantzow of Lavender & Plum and the photographer, Bentley Waters.

Here are some images from the article (as well as a few from Melisa and Michele’s sites):

Love love love the yellow paint color! But then you’d never guess that by glancing at my blog…

Now maybe I missed something…but I haven’t seen any recent posts about online magazine features on the lil bee… Anyway – it was a fun surprise and I’m so pleased for the lovely and talented Melisa that she won such a fabulous prize AND got some great press for her wonderful websites (the second of course, is her genius creation, Feather Report).

Also – am I the only one who noticed that both designer and client have unusual name spellings in which an “l” is dropped? Weird. Or maybe not weird…maybe just an exaggerated reaction that could be sign that it’s time for me to go to bed already! ‘Night.

A New Favorite: Holly Farrell

In a Janet Hill interview I read today on Annechovie (I know – two of my favorites!), she mentioned a few of her current favorite artists. So of course I looked them up, and one really grabbed me.

Holly Farrell has a pretty wide range of subjects for her paintings – but the ones that include textiles and pretty little everyday objects are my favorites:

See more wonderful images on her site HERE. Love the Barbies – especially this one:

Candace Bushnell’s Living Room

Did you see this article? I love Candace Bushnell’s books – something that I wouldn’t have necessarily expected – and I’m absolutely crazy about her living room.

As elegant as her writing style for character development, these rooms are a breath of fresh air in what I find to be a rather “either/or” (contemporary/traditional) design environment.

If I had the money I would hire her fabulous decorator pronto (read the article – even that’s a good story). Right after I bought a place in New York…

Koi Cushion

Is it strange that I LOVE this pillow

…since in real life I’m terrified of koi? I’m serious – have you ever seen them swarm for food. They make barking noises.

At our old condo, there was a koi pond, and one day as we were standing on the bridge looking down at the writhing koi, Chris commented on the sludgy looking algae water.

Chris: Gross. Can you imagine falling into that water?

Kate: I would literally have a heart attack if I fell in that water.

This is how afraid I am of the koi. And how you know I must really like that pillow.

Vote for Kelley!

If you have been reading Wishing True for a while, you will know that I am a longtime fan of Kelley MacDonald. I’m not exactly sure where I first discovered her lovely oil and acrylic paintings…but I’m so glad I did. She has a daily painting blog that always gives me a much needed dose of pretty.

Right now Kelley is in the top ten contestants for this year’s Daily Painter and I think she deserves to win. I wouldn’t just vote for her because I’m a fan…okay – yes I would. But I don’t have to take that route because I looked at the other artists’ work, and I honestly think she’s the best. Not that the others aren’t exceptional as well – but from scanning portfolios, I believe that Kelley has the most impressive range of subjects to showcase her talent.

When I first discovered her site, I was taken with her floral still life paintings:

But she really does everything. From portraits and landscapes to even abstract work – it all expresses her unique style.

Here are some of my favorite landscapes:

And I just discovered these abstracts on her studio site today:

So vote for Kelley! All you have to do is click on five stars – what could be easier? Not to mention so very well deserved.
