Weekend Sound Byte: Polygamy as a Feasible Solution

On Sunday, we all had lunch at a local kid friendly restaurant. We spent most of that hour simultaneously keeping an eye on all three children as they ricocheted around the room in separate directions, encouraging them to actually ingest the grilled cheese sandwiches we ordered for them and moving all condiments as far away from the twins as possible (Eleanor seems to think that ketchup is a delicious “dip” that can be enjoyed as a meal on it own).

As we tried to eat our mediocre food, Chris and I had the following conversation:

Chris: Remember – I once suggested that we take on another wife to help out. So you have only yourself to blame.

Kate: What are you talking about? I told you that I was totally on board with that after I had the twins.

Chris: It would definitely simplify our lives… And hey – I can be fair. We don’t have to get another wife for me. We could consider getting another husband for you…

Kate: What?! Two husbands would just double my workload and nothing would ever get done. I’ll take the sister wife thank you very much.

Chris: Gotcha.

Epilogue: That night we watched the pilot for Swingtown and concluded that we’d have to make due with our two parent set up.

I’m glad to know Carlise isn’t the only one that can eat all her ketchup but manage to not eat any of the chicken nuggets she was supposed to dip in the ketchup. =]

I’m just impressed that you guys were able to have a conversation while keeping an eye on all three of your adorable banshees.

What a great talent you have to say what everyone else is thinking! Every wife can relateto what you say and laugh about it and sharing that laughter really is the best medicine. LOL and LOL
( which in Grandmas language is Lots of Love).

Last summer my sister and her family came to visit for 3 weeks. I can’t tell you how awesome it was to have someone else helping cook, clean, watch kids. I did think about how great it would be to have another woman in the houuse until I went to bed and thought about having to share my husband…..NO THANKS.

On board with Gale on this one. If I could just have a maid…now THAT would be fantastic. But sharing my hubby? Nope.

I’m kinda liking the idea of a maid, though…

I’d pick a maid over a sister wife any day because with my luck I’d get stuck with someone like Niki from Big Love.

Bunny does the thing with ketchup too she will eat an entire dollop of ketchup with only one french fry.

I agree what is it with the ketchup thing! As for sister wives – not sure if my hubby can cope with 2 women with PMS at the same time. I’m with butwhymommy – maid works for me, anything to not make me clean anymore.

I just want a housekeeper. Like Alice from the Brady Bunch. Another spouse just seems like way too much work.

    This is too funny.

Please. I do NOT need another husband.

What I do need is a hot gay manny slash personal trainer with a flair for organizing, an eye for a good bargain, and a burning need to makeover a WAHM.

Love it. It just might be a feasible solution and you would be in charge being the first wife and all. You could totally boss her.

That is pretty funny—I love the line about 2 husbands would just be more work. So true sista. An extra wife, as long as you get to be the BOSS wife, would be very convenient sometimes. (snicker) so let me know how that turns out.

p.s thanks for your thoughts on my blog about “comments” I have appreciated hearing what others think about that whole thing.

I affectionately call my Brother In Law…my Brother Husband. Last weekend, he flew in and took care of my children while I went to Vegas with my husband.

Thank goodness he likes MEN! LOL!

LOL! Just saw that Bobbi commented earlier! I, in fact, called her my Sister Wife in the middle of a crowded restaurant on a Friday night.

    We can’t go back there…..

Ha ha! Perfect! Actually, I second the poster that says an all-day housekeeper would be better. Oh . . . that would be soooo nice.
