First Day of Preschool (Alternatively Titled: How Many Mediocre Pictures Can I Cram into One Post?)

Oliver wasn’t the only one who had a first day of school. Today, the twins had their very first day of preschool!

I wanted to take a picture of all three kids on our front steps, but Eleanor had just had a wardrobe crisis and was still reeling from the stress of it all. She refused to sit with her brothers.

Yeah – so they weren’t all that cooperative either.

Then I decided to try again after parking next to Oliver’s school. First, just of Eleanor since she was striking a pose. But George kept jumping in front of her.

Then I found some good lighting and lined them up, all the while, spewing empty promises of candy and special treats for good behavior…

That was the best I could get out of them. And at this point of reviewing my shots, I realized that there must be a smudge on the lens. Luckily it’s just in the lower corner. Note to self: don’t let George play with the camera anymore. Especially since it results in hundreds of images that look like this:

We were a bit early for preschool arrival, so thought I’d try for a nice first day of school shot of the twins…

I want to kill whoever taught George that Home Alone pose…

Again – this was about as good as it got. Striking “Crew Cuts models” off the list of ways the kids can make money for their college funds.

At any rate – they had a very successful first day and barely looked at me when I left them. We went out for pizza and ice cream to celebrate.

And just when I was starting to feel all smug about what great scholars my children are turning out to be, I spent an hour yelling at the twins to get back into bed and GO TO SLEEP! AND had a super fun phone call from Oliver’s school about how he hit his teacher. Sigh…oh well – one day at a time I guess.

Her outfit ended up looking great – and your pictures are not mediocre at all. I think you got more than a few way above average ones in there too! :)

Oh my gosh! I love those cuties!!

And don't feel bad, J had to write a 300 word essay on a musical instrument tonight for acting up in music.

Ha! I was going to say something about George's apparent love of the 'Home Alone' pose, and then I scrolled a bit further down and saw your call for death! Still so adorable!

Is it OK for me to confess here that I just yelled at my 8th grader to GO TO SLEEP ALREADY! because he's been in bed for almost an hour and has to be at school early to meet his math teacher for a review session because joy of joys, he has to retake a quiz. It never ends. Sorry.

    ;)

Did you actually velcro George to that tree by his backpack? Because that is NOT a bad idea for classroom and/or home management. You know, besides the getting fired or picked up by social services aspect. But as a disciplinary tool, it's pretty much genius, I think. And you're not supposed to hit your teacher? Whoops! I'd better wake my tot up and explain that mommy's advice was dead wrong.

ROFL, what a hilarious series. I love it, it's a slice of real life, with all its wonderful idiosyncracies.

Love that Home Alone one especially, it looks like he's got light rays shooting out of his head LOL.

I loved these pictures! Your children are beautiful if not always cooperative. And yeah, I've got about a zillion of my living room, the fire place, random TV shows…

The teacher had to peel Gremlin off of me again this morning. Feeling fine!!

Fun series of photos. It sounds like it will be an interesting school year.

Our first day of school pics featured more frowns (summer is really over?), so I am impressed at anyone who can get grins.

    Nicely done.

So cute – smudges and all. Ugh about the phone call though! I love Eleanor's haircut – might get it myself! And can we say jealous?! There are NO baskin robbins here anymore…so freaking sad. Hope they continue to love their school and I hope you let us know how you like working there too!

I think you might actually have some of most aesthetically pleasing (ie. adorable) children on the face of the Earth. Seriously. SO STINKING CUTE!!!

Surely, you can let the hitting thing slide when you look at those faces. Right? Haha.

Sometimes it's nice to know that you're not the only one who gets those calls from school. We've had our share and then some, so rest assured, you are not alone. My boy is in 1st grade this year and it's better so far this year than last year for sure. Hang in there!

What do you mean "mediocre"? I love the pictures. They give a real slice of life. And the one of Oliver after school in the blue plaid shirt is a really great picture. I'm so proud of you all.

Just ran through this post again because I love looking at the pictures soooo much.I'm laughing ouat loud thinking about Eleanor having to recover from a wardrobe meltdown. What a little Diva! She does seem to have her model poses down pat though. Where does she get that? Does she watch Project Runway?

Jeez, they're cute! Really, really cute!

Oh no about Oliver…maybe the teacher had it coming?

I love Baskin Robbins ice cream. I'm quite, quite addicted to it actually.
