What a fabulous post! Thank you for writing about one of my favorite illustrators!
I could live AND die in that rainbow caftan, too! (and I would want to come back as the Rothko canvas! That shade of fuchsia speaks to the essence of my SOUL…)
Her work brings a smile to my face, every time I stumble upon one of her images. The cheeky color choices and scenes from a life well lived truly serve as the best medicine for the doldrums of daily routines.
While I worship Occasions by Kate Spade, and read her guide 10x times over before ANY occasion in my home, I often find myself flipping through those pages on nights that I do not entertain….simply for the illustrations! Virginia Johnson’s work inspires me just as much as Mrs. Spade’s invaluable party tips and reflections.
