BHLDN Unveiled

Have you checked out the new BHLDN bridal line (via Anthropologie) yet?

Pretty, pretty, pretty…

The gowns are heavy on detail and full of whimsical charm…

…the shoes give a pronounced nod to vintage…

…and the accessories make you want to play dress up.

Moderate prices (for bridal, I mean) are an added plus. See more HERE!

Paper Lanterns

Maybe it’s tied in with my love of chinoiserie, but I’ve always had a bit of a thing for Chinese lanterns.

Earlier in the week I posted some images of fine china and my absolute favorite piece was this bowl with a lantern motif:

It reminded me these two Janet Hill paintings that I’ve kept in a folder forever – just so I can look at them and sigh:

If I could go back and do anything differently with my wedding – I would consider tying in a theme of Chinese lanterns:

Not sure how well it would have worked with the beautiful painted ceiling of the ballroom we used… Maybe it would have to be my parallel universe wedding under a tent…

Anyway – I saw this image today, and it pretty much summed up my love of lanterns in a nutshell:

I want to live in that picture. Dim Sum anyone?

Looking for Bridesmaid Dresses?

I’ve written about Kathlin Argiro before and her gorgeous designs. So of course you know that she does semi-custom dresses…

But what you probably don’t know is that she’s having a 10-20% off sale for all bridesmaid dresses ordered before April 20. AND you can have sample dresses sent to you at home.

For more information, contact courtney@kathlinargiro.com.

In the meantime, here are a few dresses I wouldn’t mind wearing – you know, if you were thinking of asking me to be in your wedding…

Can you tell I’m ready for Spring?

City Bride

I’m loving this bride today (spotted on Wedding Cabaret of course).

You would expect the gray city palette to look somber – but it’s so light and lovely. All of those ruffles, folds and layers…I’ve always been a sucker for detail.

The look is both modern and vintage at the same time. Actually, I wouldn’t even say vintage…something older… A little Jane Austen maybe? Either way, I’m smitten.

In Honor of Our Wedding Weekend…

We’re driving to Cleveland for a wedding this weekend, so I pulled this little gem from my file.

How about this muse board from Wedding Cabaret?

I love the feathers. Not sure about a feathered wedding dress off the runway… But for small details like shoes and headpieces, and of course for the ancillary events like the rehearsal dinner – I love it.

I’m Well Connected

Don’t you just love being able to say, “I know her!” Or him, or them…whatever – just saying that you are connected to someone famous. Or kind of famous, or just really well liked…whatever.

Well, that happened to me a couple of days ago when I was perusing my Google reader oohing and aahing over design sites and wishing I didn’t have so many favorites (seriously – I open my reader and see thousands of unread posts – yikes!)

Anyway – one of my favorite favorites (there are tiers you know) is coco+kelly. And as I was breezing through a lovely little wedding pictorial, I had one of those, “I know her!” moments.

See these pretty little raspberry numbers?

They were designed by my friend Kathlin Argiro. I love Kathlin’s work and always feel very proud (and maybe just a bit smug) to show off this connection of mine.

It’s hard to see the dress in that tiny image, but here is a better view in a different fabric:

I would wear this to a garden party. And of course I would tell everyone who gave me a compliment (which would be everyone) that I KNOW the designer. Yes – I’m very well connected…

Do you have any interesting connections? Feel free to brag in comments.
